Trainspotting Art Print (Dave Conway – Artist)
Irvine Welsh’s darkly comic masterpiece Trainspotting was published in 1993. Set against the backdrop of 1980s Edinburgh, the novel follows the exploits of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Frankie as they battle heroin addiction, hopelessness and the law in an effort to find meaning from the bleak landscape of their lives. Despite the dark backdrop for this novel, Welsh managed to create one of the funniest and most thought-provoking British novel’s of the 1990s. Danny Boyle’s famous film adaptation was released in 1996, to universal critcal acclaim.
